Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Inbound Marketing, the Digital Marketing Specialist will play a pivotal role in the team's success. As an integral member of the Brand, Marketing, and Communications team, this role places a strong emphasis on data management and business intelligence (BI) skills, as well as paid media expertise. Ensuring the integrity and quality of customer data used in marketing initiatives is a core aspect of the role. The Digital Marketing Specialist will also collaborate on developing paid media recommendations. This includes maintaining a hands-on approach to orchestrating various paid media activities, such as paid search, paid social, banner, site direct, retargeting, programmatic, and ABM campaigns. The role leverages both internal market research and external syndicated research to bolster media strategies. The position's overarching goal is to lead digital marketing efforts for McKesson's product or service offerings, aligning with the company's demand generation strategy, and harnessing existing software tools and emerging technologies to optimize marketing tactics, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience.
Job duties are varied and complex and require utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Digital marketing activities will include:
- Partnering with brand managers and field marketers to develop data-driven digital advertising plans.
- Utilizing BI tools to extract insights from marketing data, identifying trends and opportunities.
- Ensuring data accuracy and integrity through cleansing and validation practices.
- Creating reports and dashboards for actionable insights, requiring proficiency in BI tools.
- Collaborating across teams for data-driven decisions to enhance marketing effectiveness.
- Selecting the right digital channels for always-on and campaign-specific programs.
- Continuously monitoring marketing performance and setting up regular reporting schedules.
- Managing the data pipeline, including collection, cleansing, storage, and reporting.
- Upholding data privacy and compliance policies for secure handling of customer data.
- Collaborating with data analysts and scientists for audience targeting and personalization.
- Documenting and maintaining metadata related to customer data used in marketing.
- Aligning SEM and SEO strategies with the web team for an optimized online user experience.
Critical Knowledge and Competencies
- Proficiency in data management, business intelligence, and familiarity with reporting and visualization tools and concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage projects, drive complex tasks to completion, and maintain a keen attention to detail. Strong time management skills are essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, enabling effective collaboration across business units and functions. Capable of building productive relationships with both peers and executive stakeholders.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level marketing tools, services, and concepts, including digital advertising, demand generation, account-based marketing, SEM, SEO, social media marketing, content marketing, web analytics, personalization, and user experience.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Capacity to adapt to multiple leadership directions, work both independently and within a team, and manage concurrent project elements effectively.
- Preferred experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare and B2B sectors.
- Required Skills: Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, IBM Cognos Analytics, SAP BusinessObjects, MicroStrategy, Sisense, Domo, or similar BI tools. Proficiency in data reporting and dashboard tools like Tableau, QlikView/Qlik Sense, Looker Studio, or equivalent. Proficiency in Excel, including data modeling features such as PowerPivot, PowerQuery, VBA, and PivotChart.
- Desired Skills: Familiarity with a data analytics platform like Alteryx. Experience with data modeling using DAX. Familiarity with data management and querying languages like SQL. Experience utilizing Google BigQuery or similar data warehousing tools. Experience working with APIs to automate data collection processes.
- 4+ years' work experience in digital marketing/advertising, content management, or related field.
Education & Travel Demands
- 4-year degree, ideally in marketing, business or other relevant field.
- Occasional travel (less than 10%) required.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
Our Base Pay Range for this position
$95,900 - $159,900
