ABOUT HCHSA: In sports, a dynasty is a team or individual that dominates their sport or league for an extended length of time. Over the last 25 years, The Harris County - Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) has served as the sports marketing agency for the city of Houston and Harris County and has dominated the competition with the hardware to prove it. HCHSA is responsible for bidding on and attracting new sports events to the Houston area, as well as overseeing the marketing and operations of those events. These events include NCAA Final Fours, NCAA College Football Playoffs, CONCACAF Gold Cup, FIFA World Cup Committee, MLB and NBA All-Star Games, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships and the annual National Battle of the Bands. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Harris County - Houston Sports Authority is seeking multiple well-rounded students looking to excel in the sports industry. Our Marketing Interns have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience working alongside the HCHSA Marketing Team.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  • Participate in weekly meetings
  • Assist in production of graphics for both web and print materials (hands on or creative input)
  • Develop and maintain event-specific marketing campaigns (including Digital Marketing Campaigns)
  • Create and update content for multiple websites
  • Assist in digital media library archives
  • Gathering or creating digital elements (video or photo) prior to or during events
  • Assist with press releases and distribution
  • On-site event support
  • Set-up and teardown
  • Other duties as directed
  • Help coordinate and participate in grassroots marketing and activations
  • Market Research (General & Event-Specific)

EVENTS SCHEDULE

  • Houston Sports Awards | January 2023
  • NCAA Men's Final Four | March 31 - April 3, 2023
  • Brothers in Arms Golf Tournament | April 2023

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with various aspects of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, AI in particular, Premiere & After Effects a plus) must provide examples of work
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Familiar with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Eligible candidates must be enrolled as a full-time college/university student and must receive academic credit for this internship
  • Applicant must be available for a minimum of 35 hours per week
  • During event dates; must be available to work long hours including holidays, weekends and evenings if necessary
  • Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time
  • Valid driver's license (be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to and from site all of which will be within Harris County)
  • Bonus Qualifications: Photography and/or Videography experience with example of work

COMPENSATION:
Unpaid volunteer position, not eligible for HCHSA employee benefits; academic credit only
