The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one (1), Permanent, Full-time Digital Marketing Director position within the Office of Public Affairs. This position may be primarily remote or located in any of the DFPIs five office locations. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs, the Digital Marketing Director works to advance responsible innovation and consumer protection across the financial services sector in California. The incumbent works closely with senior leadership, divisions and subject matter experts to effectively communicate with a multilingual, diverse audience through an array of digital channels, platforms, applications and devices to advance a wide range of outreach and education activities, digital engagement strategies, and campaigns.

Working Conditions

  • The Sacramento office is located in north Natomas. The Natomas office offers FREE PARKING , is easily accessible from INTERSTATES 5 and 80, and is also close to various dining and shopping choices in the Natomas area.
  • The San Francisco office is located in the heart of the financial district within walking distance to BART and restaurants.
  • The Los Angeles office is located in the heart of the downtown financial district within walking distance to restaurants, transit, multiple parking options.
  • The San Diego office is located in the heart of Mission Valley, within walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

Department Information
The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders.   • Experience developing multichannel digital campaigns to reach and engage a diverse set of constituents, including industry and consumers.
  • Experience leading and executing content strategy across organic and paid social media, websites, email marketing, and other digital channels.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and experience developing data-driven marketing and engagement strategies.
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability convey technically complex information in plain language.
  • A self-starter that can manage long term projects through identifying tasks, tracking progress and making necessary adjustments.
  • Ability to handle rapidly changing priorities while demonstrating leadership ability.
